Key findings
The author seeks to identify the processes by which Muslims try to gain a voice and claim the rights that are systematically denied to them. It highlighted different attempts to speak both at the individual, group and/or collective level of Muslims throughout the Spanish territory and in different public spheres. It recognised how at the individual level and especially men suffer processes of the foreign take-over ("extranjerización"), social ostracism and criminalisation that are silencing demands and threatening any attempt at participation. Despite this, certain groups and organisations are taking the floor to make visible the anti-Muslim hatred and discrimination suffered by Muslims, or to claim the right to wear the hijab, to stop the silencing or invisibility in the Spanish hegemonic public sphere.
Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)
Survey - quantitative and qualitative research
Sample details and representativeness

It applies several techniques for qualitative research, such as: Discussion groups, Participant observation/Observant participation and a number of Semi-structured interviews.
